Special Issue Information

Dear contributors,

Nutrition has a vital role in supporting, strengthening the immune system and maintaining proper immune function. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has put a spotlight on the important role of nutrition in supporting the immune system relative to viruses.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will have global effects on people and their nutrition, well-being, health and mental status, economies and food systems. A great challenge is going on as to how to combat COVID-19.

The North African Journal of Food and Nutrition Research is currently running a Special Issue entitled "Nutritional Insight on Novel Coronavirus COVID-19".

Pr. Meghit Boumediene Khaled and Dr. Bachir Benarba are serving as Guest Editors for this issue. We think they could make an excellent contribution based on their expertise and their recently published papers:

  • The role of nutrition in strengthening immune system against newly emerging viral diseases: case of SARSCoV-2. Nor. Afr. J. Food Nutr. Res. January - June (2020);04(07):240-44. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3749406

  • Pre-exposure and Post-exposure new prophylactic treatments against COVID-19 in healthcare workers. Nor. Afr. J. Food Nutr. Res. January - June (2020);04(07):260-7. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3760866

This special issue will provide leading edge research on managing and combating the impacts of this global pandemic with Original Research papers, Review Articles, Short Communications, Letter to the editor, and focus articles addressing recent advances related to novel coronavirus COVID-19.

The submission deadline has been extended to 14 December 2020. However, any accepted article will be regularly published online with a fast review process. You may send your manuscript now or up until the deadline. Submitted papers should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. We also encourage authors to send a short abstract or tentative title to the Editorial Office in advance (najfnr@najfnr.org).

NAJFNR is fully open access. Open access (unlimited and free access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by the authors and their institutes. No Article Processing Charge (APC) are required for all accepted papers.

For further details on the submission process, please see the instructions for authors at the journal website (http://www.najfnr.org/instructions).

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

              - Pr. Meghit Boumediene KHALED                                    - Dr. Bachir BENARBA
